The American Culture Studies Program (AmCS) is built upon the foundation of strong departments in Arts & Sciences, departments that represent specific methods and subject expertise which AmCS brings together in collaborative teaching and research. It is this multidisciplinary approach that allows us, as a team representing complementary strengths and perspectives, to ask what it means to be American. What does it mean to be both one and many? AmCS contributes toward understanding this important concern through its efforts to create digital projects that promote the study of our culture and provide the fullest representation of the lives of the people who make up America. Our program actively supports projects to expand research opportunities for students and scholars, particularly in the St. Louis area. Many are collaborative efforts that involve faculty from various disciplines, undergraduate and graduate students, and public and private institutions.
