Priscilla Song studies the role of science and technology in postsocialist societies, with a particular concern for the effects of globalization on local knowledge and expertise. Her research focuses on the cultural, ethical, and politico-economic dimensions of biomedical technologies. She has conducted fieldwork on the development of stem cell research in China as well as the role of information technologies in the globalization of health care.

Glenn Stone's recent research has focused on biotechnology, primarily genetically modified crops in developing countries (e.g., "Anthropology of Genetically Modified Crops," Annual Review of Anthro. 2011). A recent study of his shows how rural internet projects reflect a clash between the cultural aspects of information-communication technology and the cultural aspects of farming (forthcoming in Science, Technology & Human Values).

Peter Benson has recently completed a book on the US tobacco industry, much of which explores the political relationships between the tobacco industry and public health science and advocacy.
