The three exams, E1, E2 and E3 will be graded out of 100. They will be combined in the following way to obtain a total point total out of 100:

S := 0.3*E1 + 0.3*E2 + 0.4*E3

The score S out of 100 will be translated into a letter grade of A, B, C, D, F (with plus and minus shadings) in a way that is not stricter than the following table:

Numerical Range Letter Grade
[80,100] A
[65,80) B
[50-65) C
[40-50) D
[0,40) F

There is not much point in asking about curving. That is because nothing will be decided until after the final exam. However, it is prudent to assume that there will be no curving. I will try to write exams with enough routine problems that at least a B- is likely.
