Before coming to Washington University in the fall of 2004, I completed a Master’s degree in French at the Pennsylvania State University and taught French and Spanish for three years in a secondary school.

Pursuing graduate studies at Washington University has offered me a unique opportunity to combine my interests in educational history, urban education, and women and gender studies. I hope to ultimately craft a dissertation project which focuses on issues of gender and race in educational history, examined through the analytic lenses of intellectual history and the history of the body.

The knowledge of feminist theory and gender analysis that I have gained by completing the graduate certificate in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies will undoubtedly figure centrally in the theoretical framework and analytic approach that I bring to my research.
